Debris from

Our Youthful Years

The Show

September 23, 24, 30 &

October 1st 2005

Vulnerability... Self-Loathing... Brutality... Dance

Debris from Our Youthful Years blends live music sets with

three dance pieces that examine the acute vulnerability of the

human condition. “The Conflict Between Us” explores culture

and how it can be affected by rebellion and constant brutality

against its own people.  “Caught in the Act of Self-Loathing”

sees one dancer progress from buffoonery to his worst

nightmare as a result of the destructive force of perfectionism.

The Youngest Child” features characters that leave painted

marks on one another as they experience moments of sudden

understanding of their pasts as hidden memories resurface.

Choreography: Jana Kincl, Leigh Ann Johnson & André Bouchard

Dancers: Lauren Ehnebuske, Sarah Parton, Erika Stelzenmuller,

André Bouchard, Jana Kincl, and Naomi Russell

Snowman Plan was founded by bassist/composer Ian

Obermullerin 2001 as a computer-based solo recording

project to make creative new music that would blend real

instruments with electronic sounds and conjure up dreamlike

worlds and surreal creatures in the mind of the listener. It was

in creating Snowman Plan's first album that brought Ian into

collaboration with long-time friend Eric Miller, who contributed

his drumming skills to a few of the songs. Since then, they

have continued to play at many venues all over the city,

and hope to release a new album sometime in the near future.

For updates, shows, and downloadable songs, look at

www.snowmanplan.com.

Admission for the evening

includes food, drinks, and

entertainment by Great Guy.

We'll all party so he doesn't

have to. Seriously, we don't

want him off the wagon. We

don't want to see that.

"I AM A SUPERHERO FIRST,

THEN AN ENTERTAINER!"

"i was once seattle 's premiere superhero. but thanks to the

unfortunate events of my life i am now a song and dance man.

i am working on the dancing part, but it's not coming along so

well. it's been a few years since my sidekick, good boy, left and i

went into an alcoholic downward spiral leaving me homeless and

hopeless. i won't regale you with the details except to say that

now i'm back on my feet and spreading the words of hope and

healing through music. i'm sober 121 days now and when i get

my driver's license back in december 2007 nothing (and i mean

nothing) will stop me from continuing my life's work: to bring

justice back to the streets of seattle."

Ascent is an innovative dance film generated from the improvisation of six dancers.   In this film, stairways

in Smith Tower, Elliot Bay Book Company, and Seattle Art Museum act as framing and limiting factors to

movement and interaction.   Themes develop in this tone poem through the interactions of the dancers with

their environment, leaving us with the questions:   How do we, in truth, grow?   What role do individual and

group relationships play in shaping this growth?   Do the buildings around us shape us? Ascent features

original musical scoring and live bass performance by Kevin Nail, film editing by Leigh Ann Johnson,

and camera work by Julie Harris. Dancers: André Bouchard, Solange Fermin, Jana Kincl, Naomi Russel,

Erykah Stetzenmuller, and Nala Walla.

Monstrosity is a dance and theater work based upon Book VIII of Ovid's epic poem The Metamorphosis.

Highlighting humanity, struggle, flawed heroism, and good intentions gone horribly awry, Monstrosity

presents a timeless story through the unique prism of hybridized modern dance and physical theater.

Monstrosity features a cast of fifteen members and a stunning representation of the Minotaur brought to life

by the costuming inventions of sculptors Julie Harris and Dave Olsen.
